HOUSTON, Mar. 1 – ARKeX, Cambridge, UK, has completed a BlueQube marine gravity gradiometry survey on behalf of CGGVeritas over 9,000 sq km of the Zone Sud area off Gabon.
The survey was performed as part of a comprehensive work program to improve understanding of untapped potential in Gabon’s presalt province to coincide with the tenth Gabonese licensing round that covers 42 blocks in two basins.
The data were acquired to better constrain the extent of individual salt bodies, improve geologic modeling, and identify prospective areas where future 3D seismic should be shot.
Gravity gradiometry data will provide a higher resolution model of the shallow section, which will also improve the estimate of depth-to-base salt and therefore improve the estimate of the synrift sediment thickness to identify potential targets in the presalt section.
