HOUSTON, Mar. 24
-- Abu Dhabi Co. for Onshore Operations (ADCO) has awarded another contract for field development in its program to raise oil production by 400,000 b/d.

National Petroleum Construction Co. (NPCC) of Abu Dhabi will handle engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of production facilities for development of Qusahwira oil field, about 80 km southeast of Asab field.

The work covers central and remote degassing stations; oil production and water and gas injection wells; about 350 km of pipelines; and associated activities including overhead transmission and fiber optic cables. The contract value is $560 million.

The first phase of development will concentrate on the southern block of Qusahwira field. It aims at production of 30,000 b/d of oil from Lower Cretaceous Thamama zones A/B and F. NPCC said development drilling in the field began in 2006.

Earlier, ADCO let an EPC contract valued at $683 million to NPCC to raise oil production of Northeast Bab field by 80,000 b/d (OGJ, Mar. 1, 2010, Newsletter).

To raise total production to 1.8 million b/d from 1.4 million b/d, ADCO plans also to start up oil flow from Bida Al Qemzan field and a new sector of Bab field.
