HOUSTON, Nov. 9
– Caithness Petroleum Ltd., private UK independent, said its UK subsidiary has identified two prospects on UK North Sea Block 23/26c awarded in the 25th round.

The block is 250 km east of Aberdeen near producing fields. Caithness and Reach Exploration (UK) Ltd. each holds 50% interest and are interpreting 3D seismic surveys to complete mapping the structures.

Caithness raised funds that with cash on hand will enable it to finish drilling the L11/24-3 well in Lybster field in the UK North Sea and other operations including further seismic surveys in Inner Moray Firth.

Caithness is operator with 65% interest in five UK North Sea blocks, and Reach Exploration has 35%. Block 11/24 contains Lybster and Knockinnon oil fields, and the two companies have identified prospective structures in blocks 11/24, 11/25b, and 11/28.
