HOUSTON, Feb. 25 -- Statoil contracted Technip for the marine operations and flowline installation for the subsea development of Gygrid oil field on Block 6407/8 of the Norweigian Sea.
Statoil will tie back Gygrid to the Njord semisubmersible production platform.
The €90 million contract includes the fabrication and installation of a 19½-km pipe-in-pipe production flowline, plastic-lined water-injection flowline, and gas-lift flowline of the same length.
Statoil plans to start work on Gygrid during this year’s second quarter and begin production in late 2012 or early 2013.
In January, Statoil let a contract for the subsea production equipment (OGJ Online, Jan. 20, 2011).
Gygrid lies in 250 m of water and is one the four fast-track projects launched by Statoil last year. The other projects are Visund South, Katla (Oseberg area), and Vigdis Northeast (Tampen area).
Statoil said five additional fast-track projects are set to get under way this year and next.
Operator Statoil holds a 35% interest in Gygrid. Partners are GDF Suez E&P Norge AS 20%, Norwegian Energy Co. ASA 17.5%, E.On Ruhrgas Norge AS 17.5%, Petoro AS 7.5%, and VNG Norge Operations AS 2.5%.
