HOUSTON, May 16
– Nido Petroleum Philippines Pty. Ltd. will shortly spud the Gindara-1 deepwater exploratory well in SC 54B southwest of Cadlao and Matinloc oil fields off the Philippines.

The well is to be drilled to 3,650 m true vertical depth subsea and is expected to top the primary Nido limestone reservoir at 3,400 m TVD ss. Spud is likely around May 21.

Gindara-1, in the midst of a large 3D seismic survey area, is the first well to be drilled in the block by the SC 54B Joint Venture and the first in Nido’s planned five-well program.

The Atwood Falcon semisubmersible will drill the prospect under a rig assignment agreement between Sarawak Shell Bhd./Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd. and Nido Petroleum Philippines, which is operator on behalf of the SC 54B joint venture.
