Qatar: Total takes farmout on Block BC

Total SA has taken a farmout from CNOOC Middle East (Qatar) Ltd. to acquire a 25% interest in the Block BC (pre-Khuff) exploration license 130 km east of the Qatari coast.

HOUSTON, June 1 – Total SA has taken a farmout from CNOOC Middle East (Qatar) Ltd. to acquire a 25% interest in the Block BC (pre-Khuff) exploration license 130 km east of the Qatari coast.

CNOOC Middle East will continue to be block operator with 75% interest. The license covers 5,649 sq km in 15-35 m of water.

The exploration and production sharing agreement calls for 2D and 3D seismic surveys and the drilling of at least three exploratory wells by 2014.
