Texas: Acid treatment moves San Miguel heavy oil

A nitrified acid injection treatment applied with coiled tubing appears to have improved the inflow of 10° gravity oil from the Cretaceous San Miguel formation in the Maverick basin of Texas, said Eagleford Energy Inc., Toronto.

HOUSTON, June 14 – A nitrified acid injection treatment applied with coiled tubing appears to have improved the inflow of 10° gravity oil from the Cretaceous San Miguel formation in the Maverick basin of Texas, said Eagleford Energy Inc., Toronto.

Eagleford performed the treatment at the Matthews/Dyami-3 well, which is undergoing production tests at fluctuating rates.

The Matthews lease totals 2,629 acres in Zavala County downdip from the north boundary of the US Geological Survey-defined Smackover-Austin-Eagle Ford Total Petroleum System. This area is often referred to as the oil window of the present Eagle Ford shale play.
