Total group may hike Bongkot outlays
Total and partners are considering investing another $500 million for two new development phases for Bongkot field in the Gulf of Thailand.
Bongkot is in a third phase of development by the Total group (OGJ, Jan. 27, 1997, p. 25). Overall objective of the third development phase is to meet contracted gas delivery of 550 MMcfd of gas to Petroleum Authority of Thailand in July 1998 under a deal signed last August.
The overall scheme of development under Phase III could include as many as 110 wells and 12 new wellhead platforms to boost production from 420 MMcfd of gas and 10,000 b/d of condensate to 630 MMcfd and 13,000 b/d. The $270 million Phase III-A development, launched in 1996, involves two more wellhead platforms, almost 50 wells, and additional processing and separation equipment on existing complexes.
Phase III-B calls for five wellhead platforms, a gathering platform, and 54 wells. Under Phase III-C, plans could include five platforms. Phase III-B could begin in 1998 and be completed by 2000, and timing of Phase III-C remains uncertain.
