Valves and fittings showed the greatest increases in cost, rising from 1,340.8 in the first quarter of 1994 to 1,460.5 in the last quarter of 1996.
Four other items showed more modest increases. The tanks and pressure vessels category rose from 684.2 to 731.8 during the 36-month span. Non-metallic building materials increased from 658.5 to 712.5. Bubble trays showed an index gain from 968.9 to 1030.1. Fractionating towers showed a 55-point gain, increasing from 801.5 to 856.9 over the 3-year period.
The final category, tube stills, rose 19.7 points during the data compilation period. Beginning index value was 378.7, while the final value was 398.4.
