Santos Ltd.-led groups made several recent Cooper-Eromanga basin discoveries.
The Coolah 1, in ATP 259P, Southwest Queensland Unit, flowed 2.05 MMcfd of gas from Permian Toolachee open hole at 2,555-86 m. It is the sixth well to assess the Barrolka field complex's size and deliverability.
Santos said the Barrolka 3 and Beeree 1 wells, announced in October 1996 and July 1997, respectively, suggested a possible resource of several hundred billion cubic feet of gas associated with the Barrolka field complex.
Coolah 1, which addressed a separate sub-structure, builds on those encouraging results. The joint venture plans to drill Barrolka Northeast, another substructure.
The Beeree 1, in Southwest Queensland 50 km north of Ballera gas center, is one of the area's largest finds in 20 years. Drilled with air, it flowed 3 MMcfd of gas on an open hole test.
The Milluna 1, in South Australia 4.3 km northeast of Goyder gas field, flowed 7.45 MMcfd of gas from Early Permian Patchawarra at 2,209-23 m.
The Bauhaus 1, in South Australia 18 km west-southwest of Milluna 1, flowed 840 Mcfd of gas from Patchawarra at 2,699-2,708 m.
The Dorodillo 1, in South Australia on the Murta Block 24 km west of the Moomba gas plant, flowed 10 MMcfd of gas on a half inch choke from a Permian age reservoir at 2,485-92 m. It is in a stratigraphic trap that provides upside exploration potential in the region. TD is 2,640 m, where other potential gas reservoir sands are to be evaluated by wireline logs.
