KENYA PRODUCTS PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION STARTS

Kenya Pipeline Co. Ltd., Nairobi, has started laying a 275 mile, 6-8 in. products pipeline in Kenya. The project will extend a 280 mile Mombasa-Nairobi products line completed in 1978. NKK Corp., Tokyo, is handling the line's design and construction. It will transport mainly two grades of gasoline, dual purpose kerosine, and diesel oil, from Nairobi to Najuru, Kisumu, and Eldoret in western Kenya. The project will extend a 280 mile Mombasa-Nairobi products line completed in 1978.

It will transport mainly two grades of gasoline, dual purpose kerosine, and diesel oil, from Nairobi to Najuru, Kisumu, and Eldoret in western Kenya.

From Kisumu and Eldoret, products also will be exported to Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and northern Tanzania.

When commissioned in mid 1993, the pipeline will consist of 137 miles of 8 in. and 136 miles of 6 in. high grade X52 pipe with an external polyethylene coating.

Lavalin Inc., Canada, has the contract for the line's pump stations and Sogea, France, for the civil engineering.
