A group led by Hadson Energy Ltd. has let contract to an Australian joint venture for two single leg platforms to develop offshore gas fields as part of the Harriet gas gathering project.

Deliveries of gas from the Harriet project to the State Energy Commission of Western Australia are to begin in mid-1 992 at 35 MMcfd (OGJ, Dec. 17, 1990, p. 32).

CONTRACT DETAILS

The contract awarded to the BOS/DOM/UIE joint venture will cover design, procurement, fabrication, certification, and loadout of the five-well capacity single leg platforms. Construction completion is set for late February 1992. The two platforms will be installed in 40 m of water in Sinbad and Campbell fields off Western Australia.

They will be connected by gathering lines to treatment facilities at Hadson's base on nearby Varanus Island.

The proposed facilities will have almost all Australian content with substructure design and all fabrication assembly carried out in Western Australia.

PROJECT DESIGN

Structures and topsides are to be installed over existing wells either by the jack up used to drill the remaining wells or the derrick barge used for pipelaying.

Design of offshore facilities is by Australian consulting engineers Hardcastle & Richards in conjunction with Earl & Wright. Another Australian company, designed topsides.

Each platform will be a single caisson design with extended subsea base structures. Well conductors will be carried inside caissons as protection, notably against work boat damage.
