Quality control checklists and rules-of-thumb for logging, perforating, fracturing, and testing Devonian shale wells are included in the publication Quality Control Guidelines.

The document combines material developed by the Gas Research Institute during 10 years of research into the behavior of fractured shale gas reservoirs.

The section on logging includes checklists on logging speeds, calibration details, and critical log heading data. The focus is on a typical logging suite in the Ohio shale.

The perforating section includes similar checklists as well as a master "shot sheet" that can easily be duplicated.

In the third section, a comprehensive checklist for fracturing should help remind the supervisory engineer of the equipment needed, safety issues, and questions to verify with the service company before and after the job. Emphasis is on obtaining a reliable, permanent record of the treatment. Forms are included to help summarize the job.

The final section deals with step-by-step procedures for oil and gas reservoir testing before and after stimulation. Suggestions for testing the Ohio shale are included.
