NAM DISCOVERS MORE GAS IN NETHERLANDS

Nederlandse Aardolie Mij. BV (NAM) continues to drill significant gas discoveries on its heavily explored Groningen acreage in northern Netherlands following a 3-D seismic survey of the area in 1989-90.

Its latest significant strike, 1 Pasob, lies in the northwest part of the concession. The well, with preliminary indications of 175 bcf of reserves, will be tested early in 1992.

Pasob is southeast of the Grijpskerk discovery made in 1990, which has reported reserves of 350 bcf, and the much smaller Surhuisterveen find, with 35 bcf, which lies close to NAM's Tietjerksteradeel concession.

Pasob, drilled to about 10,000 ft, found gas in the Rotliegendes sandstone, productive in the other discoveries. They all lie west of the main Groningen field.

NAM plans to drill an appraisal of the Grijpskerk strike in 1992 and may start production from the structure the following year.
