CONOCO EXECUTIVES LISTED AS MISSING
Rescue teams late last week were searching mountainous coastal terrain in northern Borneo for a corporate jet that disappeared with five Conoco Inc. executives, four spouses, and a three man crew aboard.
Conoco's Grumman G-2 was en route to Jakarta, Indonesia, from Narita, Japan. When reported lost the afternoon of Sept. 4, it was believed to be 20-30 miles south of Kota Kinabalu at the northern tip of Borneo, where it was bound for a refueling stop.
The group was on a tour of Conoco facilities in the Far East and Middle East. Conoco employees had been meeting in Tokyo with several Japanese joint venture partners before resuming the trip.
Among the missing executives, Conoco listed:
- William K. Dietrich, executive vice-president of exploration and production, and his wife.
- Colin H. Lee, executive vice-president of refining, marketing, supply, and transportation, and his wife.
- H.K. Bowden, senior vice-president of administration, and his wife.
- James Myers, general manager of petroleum coke and specialty products, and his wife.
- Ann K. Parsons, Lee's executive assistant.
