Service vessels have survey and seismic roles
Fugro-Geoteam of Norway acquired two more vessels to conduct offshore surveys. The 245 ft Jean Charcot will carry out deepwater surveys in support of offshore oil and gas development, route surveys for fiber optic communications cables, and delineation of Exclusive Economic Zones. She is capable of remaining at sea 40 days. Fugro retained Louis Dreyfus Armateurs SNC, the previous owner, to manage the vessel. The second ship, Geo Baltic, is being converted to a state of the art seismic vessel and is scheduled to enter service in July 1998. It will specialize in long offset 2D surveys, focusing on markets outside Northwest Europe.
