Galvestion Bay action

TransTexas was boosting capacity of its new gas treatment plant at Winnie, Tex., in Chambers County during August to 200 MMcfd from 60 MMcfd.

The plant has begun handling production from the first two wells in Eagle Bay field, formerly Eagle Point, in the Galveston County portion of Galveston Bay.

The first two wells, 1 and 3 State Tract 331, are flowing 42.8 MMcfd of gas with 9,400 psi FTP and 9.1 MMcfd at 9,500 psi, respectively. The 1 S.T. 352, 1/2 mile southwest of the 1997 discovery well, tested at 54 MMcfd on June 3 from a second, downthrown fault block, was to be brought on line during August.

Combined production in early August from the first two wells was 51.9 MMcfd of gas, 8,180 b/d of condensate, and 4,080 b/d of natural gas liquids from Tertiary Vicksburg. It moves across the bay to Winnie via a 16 in. pipeline operated by Tejas. Production was temporarily routed to Texas City prior to July 17.

From the Winnie plant, condensate is sold to Sun Co. Inc. Centana Intrastate Pipeline Co. extracts NGLs from the gas. Dry gas is sold to Tejas and Centana.

TransTexas was spudding the 3 S.T. 331 well, 2,300 ft north-northwest of the 3 S.T. 331 well, as a test of a third fault block.

The company, with 75% working interest in Eagle Bay field, placed its net reserves at 252 bcf as of May 1.

On the east side of Galveston Bay near Smith Point, drilling was nearly completed at TransTexas' 1 S.T. 197, Trout Point prospect. Drilling was continuing to Vicksburg after logs indicated presence of productive pay in Frio F-27 sand. Next the operator plans to drill a wildcat off Smith Point. Both wells are near the 16 in. Eagle Bay pipeline.

Trinity Bay progress

Vintage planned to seek a higher allowable for its State Tract 2-3A well in the Fisher's Reef West area of Trinity Bay.

The well is to go on production initially at the existing allowable of 640 b/d of oil and 1.3 MMcfd of gas from an undisclosed zone. TD is 9,700 ft.

Vintage, with 100% working interest, tested the well at gross daily rates of up to 1,357 b/d of oil and 2 MMcfd of gas. The success led to identification of two more prospects.

Vintage also acquired 30 sq miles of 3D seismic data onshore near Cedar Point adjoining its bay acreage.
