Energy Minister Tim Eggar of the U.K. has approved development of three oil and gas fields on Block 110/13 in the Liverpool Bay area of the Irish Sea.
Operator Hamilton Oil Co. Ltd., London, will develop Douglas, Hamilton, and North Hamilton fields as part of a 1 billion ($1.5 billion) program.
A gas terminal will be built at Point of Ayr, North Wales. Gas will be supplied to a power generating plant to be built by Powergen plc at Connah's Quay.
Oil production is scheduled to begin in November 1995. Oil export will be by offshore loading from Douglas field. Gas production is slated to start in December 1995.
Field development will involve three platforms in Douglas field, providing drilling, production, processing, and accommodation.
Hamilton and North Hamilton fields will be developed using unmanned satellite platforms tied back to Douglas. Plans to develop nearby Lennox field on Block 110/15, using an unmanned satellite platform tied back to Douglas, are said to be well advanced.
Hamilton estimates oil reserves in Douglas and Lennox fields at 150-200 million bbl. Gas reserves for Hamilton, North Hamilton, and Lennox combined are pegged at 1.2 tcf.
Total oil production from the complex is expected to peak at 70,000 b/d. Contract sales of gas to Powergen will begin in mid-1996 at 300 MMcfd.
Development partners are Hamilton 46.1%, Lasmo plc, London, 30%, and Monument Resources Ltd., also of London, 23.9 %.
