Blue Ridge Pipeline Co. plans to add 150 MMcfd of firm transportation capacity on the Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corp. (TGPL) system serving customers in the U.S. East and Southeast.
Blue Ridge is a newly formed combine made up of units of Transco Energy Co., Piedmont Natural Gas Co. Inc., and Public Service Co. of North Carolina Inc. (PSNC).
The $100 million project is to include laying three loops and adding 21,000 hp of compression on TGPL's Mobile Bay interconnect from Butler, Ala., to a point just north of the Reidsville, N.C., compressor station. Construction is to begin early in 1994 with start-up expected by Nov. 1, 1994, for gas sales in Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, and the Carolinas.
Transco Blue Ridge Pipeline Co. owns a 50% interest in the new combine, Piedmont Interstate Pipeline Co. 35%, and PSNC Blue Ridge Corp. 15%. TGPL will operate.
