PRODUCTION SCHEDULED FOR JINZHOU 20-2 FIELD IN BOHAI SEA

China's state owned Bohai Oil Co. targets August 1992 for start-up of Jinzhou 20-2 oil and gas/condensate field in the Liaodong Bay area of the Bohai Sea. A 48.6 km, 12 in. gas pipeline to transport gas from Jinzhou 20-2 to the Jinxi petrochemical plant in Liaoning province was completed in summer 1991. It is China's longest offshore pipeline. The petrochemical complex, being built concurrently with field development, will produce 300,000 tons/year of ammonia.

Gas production is expected to be about 48 MMcfd, but no estimates are disclosed for liquids production from the field (see map, OGJ, June 3, 1991, p. 32).

The field's gas reserves are pegged at 700 bcf, while crude reserves are estimated at 70 million bbl and condensate reserves at 21 million bbl.

The Bohai Sea contains six fields. Three of them, oil fields developed by a Sino-Japanese joint venture, produce about 24,000 b/d, up from about 16,000 b/d in 1990. Another three, including Jinzhou 20-2, are under development. Total Bohai production is expected to reach 40,000 b/d of liquids and about 48 MMcfd of gas. Bohai potential reserves are estimated at 1.015 tcf of gas and 2.73 billion bbl of liquids.
