South Korean petrochemical exports are expected to soar by almost half this year. Government officials said South Korean petrochemical exports are expected to garner $2.35 billion in 1992, up 45% from $1.64 billion in 1991. The value of South Korean petrochemical exports jumped by more than 70% in January-February from year ago levels. Government officials said South Korean petrochemical exports are expected to garner $2.35 billion in 1992, up 45% from $1.64 billion in 1991.

The value of South Korean petrochemical exports jumped by more than 70% in January-February from year ago levels.

According to the Trade and Industry Ministry, the value of February shipments of South Korean petrochemicals rose 72.5% to $202 million from a year ago, and January shipments increased 71% to $188 million from a year ago.

Officials cited as factors for the big jump in exports increased production capacity, strong demand in China, and price competitiveness with petrochemicals from the U.S., Canada, and the Middle East.
