TEXACO E&P PLANS TO TRIM WORK FORCE

Texaco Exploration & Production Inc. plans to cut about 450 salaried and hourly jobs in the U.S. to improve upstream competitiveness. Texaco E&P employs about 6,800 people nationwide. Texaco E&P Pres. Earl L. Johnson said planned staff cuts, the result of a 6 month analysis of company operations and business processes, do not represent a major corporate restructuring.
