TEXACO E&P PLANS TO TRIM WORK FORCE
Texaco Exploration & Production Inc. plans to cut about 450 salaried and hourly jobs in the U.S. to improve upstream competitiveness.
Texaco E&P employs about 6,800 people nationwide.
Texaco E&P Pres. Earl L. Johnson said planned staff cuts, the result of a 6 month analysis of company operations and business processes, do not represent a major corporate restructuring.
He said not all positions eliminated will result in involuntary separations. Some affected employees will be able to join Texaco's redeployment pool for possible placement in other U.S. or international operations.
