Texaco Exploration Myanmar Inc. has completed a gas/condensate discovery in 341 ft of water off Myanmar.
The 1 Yetagun on Block M13, 260 miles south of Yangon, flowed at a combined rate of 75 MMcfd of gas and 1,800 b/d of 47.5 gravity condensate through a 3/4 in. choke from four zones at 6,400-7,200 ft.
Yetagun is the first well in an exploration campaign that began in fourth quarter 1992 on Block M13 (see map, OGJ, Oct. 26, p. 31). It is the first discovery in the Tenasserim shelf area, previously unproven as a petroleum basin. Texaco and partners hold offsetting Blocks M12 and M14, which with M13 total 12.5 million acres.
Texaco holds a 50% interest in Block M13. Its partners are Premier Petroleum Myanmar Ltd. 30% and Nippon Oil (Myanmar) Exploration Ltd. 20%. State owned Myanma Oil & Gas Enterprise has the right to take a maximum 15% working interest in the block.
