PAKISTAN EXPLORATION INTEREST STILL HIGH
Pakistan exploration interest remains strong.
Pakistan's government has granted six more exploration licenses, with work commitments representing a combined total of $27 million and involving 950 line km of seismic surveys and six exploratory wells. State owned Oil & Gas Development Corp. (OGDC) and local private firm Zaver Petroleum Corp. have jointly acquired exploration rights in the Shakardara and Thal areas of the Northwest Frontier Provinces. Premier Exploration Pakistan Ltd. obtained rights to the Petro block in Sindh province, and OGDC solo won exploration rights to the Zindapir and Fazalpur areas in Punjab and Hala area in Sindh. In all, Karachi has granted 38 exploration/survey permits, and another 22 applications are under negotiation.
