Costs for four of the five equipment items which make up the Nelson-Farrar miscellaneous equipment cost index rose moderately in the 1992-1993 period. The exception was the heat-exchanger category which dropped steadily from January of 1992 to December of 1993.

Numerical values of this index dropped from 786.4 to 694.7 over this period.

Greatest increase among the other four components was pumps-compressors, rising from 1,194.5 to 1,258.7, or 64.2 points. Electric machinery rose only 9.51 points to a December 1993 value of 557.7.

Instruments rose 30 points during the period, from 856.5 to 886.51. Engines gained 17.6 points during the 19921993 period examined.

The miscellaneous equipment average was 844.6 in December 1993, and 838.6 in January 1992. This mirrored a 6-point increase for the 2-year period.
