Russia's Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug plans this fall to issue its first international, competitive oil and gas tender. Combined proved and probable reserves of fields to be included in the tender are estimated to amount to 869 million tons of oil and condensate and 276 billion cu m of gas. Taz, largest field in the offering, holds most of the reserves, with about 554 million tons of oil and condensate and 197.7 billion cu m of gas.

Possible reserves(10967 bytes) of the three exploration tracts in the tender are estimated at:

  • 81.5 million tons of oil and condensate and 60 billion cu m of gas on the Van Namys block.

  • 84 million tons of oil and condensate and 15 billion cu m of gas on the Urabor-Yakha block.

  • 3.3 million tons of condensate and 27.6 billion cu m of gas on the Voskhodny block.

Officials will select winners on the basis of proposed feasibility studies, work programs, and bonus payments. Production sharing agreements may serve as the basis of licensing and operating terms.

Officials intend to present details of the offering at two seminars, Sept. 19 in Moscow and Oct. 3 in London.

Yamal-Nenets state enterprise Yamal Nedra Centre, Labytnangi, Russia, and Russian state enterprise Rosvneshgeo, Moscow, are organizing the bidding round. Jebco Seismic Ltd. is assisting with the tender through its offices in London and Houston.
