System detects and locates third party intrusions

The new Trip Wire system detects and locates third party intrusions, which is one of the causes of pipeline leak incidents. The system incorporates a fiber optic element, which is installed 12-24 in. above the pipeline or other critical facility. Optical instruments continuously monitor the integrity of the element. Should that element become damaged or cut in two, the optical device, which is integrated into the pipeline programmable logic controllers and supervisory control and data acquisition system, outputs the location of the fiber optic element damage.

Operationally, when the fiber optic element is damaged or severed, the operator receives a third party intrusion alarm at their control center. This alarm provides the location of the intrusion, within an accuracy of about 1 m. In most installations, the system can recognize, locate, and alarm the operator of an intrusion or potential pipeline exposure within about 30 sec.

Directional drilling mud recyling equipment

Here's the Simple Simon directional drilling mud-recycling unit, designed for use where smaller footprints are needed. Compact enough for use on offshore operations, units offer an alternative to traditional methods used for disposal of mud and liquid waste.

The unit also is suited for refinery and petrochemical plant uses, the company says.

The new Bandito modular catalytic converter is specially designed for easy access to simplify installation, maintenance, and element replacement on internal combustion engines. These converters reduce emissions on IC engines, 50-500 hp, and come in a variety of standard sizes.

The Bandito's modular design features quick-release clamps making the element easily accessible for maintenance, testing, or cleaning. And the lightweight, stainless steel converter can be installed and ready for operation in minutes. If a catalyst replacement is required, there is no need to replace the entire housing; release the clamps and set them aside, and the element is easily removed. Bandito converters employ NSCR three-way catalysts that can reduce NOx, CO, and HC emissions, or two-way oxidation catalysts to reduce HCs and CO. The new converter can be used in a number of IC engine applications including gas compression, power generation, pumping, standby equipment and pump jacks and a number of fuels including natural gas, diesel and propane.
