The project off China was handled by European Marine Contractor's Semac 1 semisubmersible lay barge (see P. 91).

In August, Saipem's Castoro V shallow draft pipelay vessel will mobilize to Chinese waters to complete the shallowater section of the 28 in. trunk line in the Pearl River estuary. This work will extend the trunk line about 70 km to landfall at Black Point.

Start-up for the entire pipeline project is scheduled for early 1996.
