Carol Crowfoot and Mark Taylor have been appointed by the Alberta Energy Regulator to its executive leadership team.

Crowfoot is AER’s new executive vice-president of strategy and regulatory, succeeding Cal Hill, while Taylor is its new executive vice-president of operations, succeeding Kirk Bailey. The moves are effective immediately.

Crowfoot has been with AER since 2007 and also serves as its chief economist. She is responsible for overseeing execution of the organization’s strategy, ensuring organization standards are developed and followed when designing risked-based regulatory requirements, and delivering energy information, independent analysis, and supply-and-demand forecasts for Alberta commodities to all stakeholders.

She started her career at GLJ Petroleum Consultants Ltd. where she was responsible for monitoring and understanding the fundamentals of supply, demand, and transportation issues in energy markets.

Taylor has 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, working in field and office roles for companies including Amoco Corp.-BP PLC, Alberta Energy Co.-Encana Corp., Sinopec Daylight Energy Ltd., and Mosaic Energy Ltd. Over the past 20 years, he has led teams responsible for developing unconventional oil and gas assets in western Canada including Horseshoe Canyon coalbed methane, Horn River shale, Montney gas, and Cardium oil.

Hill is retiring after 37 years of service with the regulator. Bailey had been with AER since 2013.
