Cameron LNG has named Whitney (Whit) Fairbanks as president of Cameron LNG effective Mar. 9. Fairbanks spent over a decade at Hunt Oil Co., where he managed Hunt LNG Operating Co., the operator of Peru LNG.
The Cameron LNG liquefaction export project in Hackberry, La., reached full commercial operations of Phase 1 in August 2020. To date, the facility has exported more than 351 cargoes of US natural gas to 29 countries worldwide.
The three-train liquefaction facility has a contracted export capacity of 12 million tonnes/year (tpy) of LNG and Cameron LNG has filed for the amended expansion project that will allow the facility to produce up to 6.75 million tpy of additional LNG for export.
Cameron LNG is jointly owned by affiliates of Sempra Infrastructure, TotalEnergies, Mitsui & Co. Ltd., and Japan LNG Investment LLC, a company jointly owned by Mitsubishi Corp. and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK).
