Searah JV lets subsea systems contract for Indonesia Kutei North Hub development
Searah North Ganal Ltd. has let a contract to Baker Hughes to deliver subsea production systems and digital solutions to support production at the Kutei North Hub development offshore Indonesia.
Under the agreement, Baker Hughes will supply 17 deepwater horizontal tree systems, along with associated manifolds and connections, control and distribution systems, for the integrated development of the recently discovered Geng North field and Gehem field.
Asset protection and condition monitoring systems will also be deployed.
“The development of the Kutei Northern Hub is an important step in Indonesia’s drive to deliver natural gas and LNG to power the country and the broader region,” said Amerino Gatti, executive vice-president, oilfield services and equipment, Baker Hughes, in a release Aug. 10.
Located in the Kutei basin offshore East Kalimantan, Kutei North Hub will develop Gehem field and the Geng North gas discovery through 16 production wells installed at water depths of about 2,000 m. A new-generation floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO) is being designed to process more than 1 bcfd of gas and about 80,000-90,000 b/d of condensate, with a storage capacity of 1.4 million bbl.
In 2025, Baker Hughes was awarded a flash gas compressors order for the FPSO.
The Kutei North Hub project is targeted to start production in 2028, and includes reactivation of Train F at the Bontang LNG plant.
Searah North Ganal is a subsidiary of Searah Ltd., a joint venture between Eni and Petronas.
