Equinor lets Norwegian continental shelf contracts to DeepOcean

The contract involves offshore installation, survey, tie-ins, and pre-commissioning activities at Norwegian fields, supporting development and maintenance of subsea infrastructure.

Equinor has awarded a subsea contract package to ocean‑services provider DeepOcean covering work across several fields on the Norwegian continental shelf, including the Barents Sea.

The scope includes subsea operations at Visund in the North Sea, Johan Castberg in the Barents Sea, and an option for potential work at the Snorre A subsea field in the North Sea.

At Visund, DeepOcean will execute a simultaneous marine operation and production – installation contract to replace both the gas‑export and oil‑export risers. The contractor will handle onshore project management, engineering, fabrication, and procurement, along with offshore installation, survey, dredging, tie‑ins, and pre‑commissioning.

In the Barents Sea, DeepOcean will support development of the Isflak oil discovery—8.5 km from the Johan Castberg FPSO and the first satellite tie‑back to the vessel. Work includes installation of a four‑slot template, manifold module, flowlines, and a static umbilical, plus associated survey, tie‑ins, and pre‑commissioning.

The award also carries options for recovery of eight existing risers and umbilicals linking the Snorre A production platforms to the underwater production area.

Offshore work at Visund, Isflak, and Snorre A is scheduled across the 2027–28. DeepOcean plans to deploy construction vessels from its high‑specification chartered subsea fleet. Water depths at the fields range from 300–400 m.
