Saudi Aramco has let a contract to Saipem in Saudi Arabia under its existing long-term agreement. The operator is constructing a new trunk pipeline linking the offshore Safaniya oil field to an onshore network.

Saipem’s work scope includes engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of a 48-in. trunkline, comprising about 65 km offshore and 12 km onshore, as well as associated subsea equipment in Safaniya oil field. The engineering and construction company values the contract at $500 million.

Offshore operations will be carried out by Saipem’s construction vessels currently deployed in the region, while fabrication activities will be executed at Saipem’s Saudi fabrication yard, Saipem Taqa Al-Rushaid Fabricators Co. Ltd., in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Safaniyah field lies about 260 km north of Dhahran. Most of the field lies offshore in the Arabian Gulf. Within the Concession area, Safaniyah field is about 50 km long and 15 km wide.
