Aramco has let two offshore contracts to Saipem under its existing long-term agreement.
The first contract, under Contract Release Purchase Orders (CRPO) 162, has a duration of 32 months and encompasses engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of about 34 km of pipeline, with diameters of 20 in. and 30 in., and related works on topside structures at Berri and Abu Safah oil fields.
The second contract (CRPO 165) will last 12 months and includes subsea interventions at Marjan field and the EPC of 300 m of onshore pipeline and associated tie-ins.
Fabrication will be executed at Saipem’s Saudi fabrication yard, Saipem Taqa Al-Rushaid Fabricators Co. Ltd., in Dammam, and offshore operations will employ Saipem’s construction vessels currently deployed in the region.
Berri field was discovered in 1964 and is partly onshore and partly offshore in the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia. It contains 18.2 billion bbl EUR oil reserves. Abu Safah lies southeast of Berri field and is operated by Aramco. The field comprises multiple steel platforms with smaller wellhead platforms tied back to larger gathering platforms.
The Marjan crude oil increment project is designed to add 300,000 b/d of Arabian Medium crude. It includes a cogeneration facility, a water-desalination plant, and new transfer pipelines.
Saipem values the contracts at a combined $600 million.
