The US Department of Justice has begun an antitrust investigation of companies supplying pressure pumping services to oil and gas producers.
A spokeswoman told OGJ that DOJ’s antitrust division is investigating the possibility of anticompetitive practices in the oil field services segment, but would not name any companies which are being contacted.
Baker Hughes Inc. said in its latest 10Q filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission that it received a Civil Investigative Demand from DOJ on May 30 seeking documents from the past two years related to its US pressure pumping services operations.
It said it was working with DOJ to provide the requested documents and information.
