Gov. Tomblin forms West Virginia oil, gas safety commission

West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin (D) established the oil and gas safety commission he announced in his 2015 State of the State address. The group will include two producers, one independent producer, two pipeline officials, two labor representatives, and one trucking industry official in addition to four state agency directors and four state legislators, he said on July 9.

The group will include two producers, one independent producer, two pipeline officials, two labor representatives, and one trucking industry official in addition to four state agency directors and four state legislators, he said on July 9.
“This commission will help us determine how to best protect workers at natural gas operations while ensuring our workers have the proper training and skills to do their jobs in the safest, most effective way possible,” the governor indicated.
Commission members will review existing federal and state oil and gas workplace safety regulations and provide recommendations for improvements by Nov. 16, Tomblin said in his July 8 executive order.
