Energy meeting examines global market data

The US Department of Energy and Spain�s Economy Ministry are sponsoring an international oil market data conference July 14-15 in Madrid. US Energy Sec. Bill Richardson announced plans for the meeting in May, stressing the need for improved accuracy in world oil pricing data (OGJ Online, May 24, 2000).

US Energy Sec. Bill Richardson announced plans for the meeting in May, stressing the need for improved accuracy in world oil pricing data (OGJ Online, May 24, 2000).

DOE said policymakers of oil consuming and producing nations, market participants, industry representatives, and analysts will discuss how improved data could improve transparency and stability in oil markets. Other sessions will discuss oil market data collection and use, forecasting, better information availability, and data sharing.

Spanish Economy Minister Rodrigo de Rato will present opening remarks July 14 and Richardson will deliver closing remarks July 15. Other speakers will include Luis Tellez, Mexico�s energy secretary, and Loyola de Palacio, the European Union�s energy and transport commissioner.
