Credo Petroleum's CEO to retire by year end
Credo Petroleum Corp.'s CEO, James T. Huffman, will retire at the end of 2009. Huffman will continue in his present executive capacity until a new CEO is selected. Huffman will remain as a director and, subject to board approval, will continue to serve in the capacity as chairman of the board. Huffman was a founder of Credo in 1978 and has served as CEO and chairman since 1979.

Advent International names McShane oil, gas investment advisor
Advent International, a global private equity firm, has added Michael McShane to its Operating Partner Program to advise on investment opportunities in the oil and gas services and equipment sector. McShane was previously the chairman and CEO of Grant Prideco. He left Grant Prideco in 2008 after its acquisition by National Oilwell Varco. Prior to joining Grant Prideco, he was the CFO of international pressure pumping and oilfield services company BJ Services.
Hoffman joins Seahawk Drilling as senior VP, COO
Houston-based offshore drilling company Seahawk Drilling Inc. has appointed William C. (Kurt) Hoffman to the position of senior vice president and COO. Hoffman is a 27-year veteran of the oilfield services industry. Since 2004, Hoffman has served as vice president worldwide marketing at Noble Corp. where he was also vice president Western Hemisphere operations from 2000-2004.

Bell to succeed Wesson as president, CEO of GEODynamics BV
Matt Bell, currently vice president, technology, has been appointed president and CEO of GEODynamics BV to succeed David Wesson, co-founder, president, and CEO. Bell will be headquartered at the company's executive offices in The Woodlands, Texas. He will retain overall responsibility for GEODynamics brand and marketing activities, while his additional duties will be reassigned to other management team positions. Wesson will remain a member of the board. GEODynamics is a technology development company focused on high performance perforating systems and solutions.
Stephens enters oilfield services equity research
Stephens Inc., a full service investment banking firm headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas, has entered oilfield services equity research. Two analysts, John Keller and Michael Marino, have been hired to anchor the new research team from Stephens' Houston office. Prior to joining Stephens, Keller and Marino served in the energy equity research division of Johnson Rice & Co. LLC where they were responsible for coverage of over 30 companies in the oilfield services sector. Both received their MBAs from Tulane University.
CFO to step down from Global Industries
Global Industries Ltd.'s senior vice president and CFO, Jeffrey B. Levos, will step down in mid-November after concluding third quarter financial reporting activities, including filing the company's 10Q. Following, Levos will remain with the company for a transition period. Levos joined the company in May 2008 after 14 years with Cooper Industries and the Coastal Corp. Standard Chartered appoints Global Head of Securities Services Operations
Standard Chartered has named Venkatesh Rathnam Global Head of Securities Services Operations. Rathnam joins from Citibank where he was previously the Asia Pacific Regional Head of Operations overseeing the operations of the securities and fund services businesses. He brings 20 years of experience to the company. Rathnam will oversee the global operations and service delivery for the bank's clearing, custody, and funds administration business and will be based in Singapore. He replaces David Gilmour who has been appointed Head of Investor and Intermediaries Sales – North Asia for Standard Chartered.
Duplantier, Schlom joinParker Drilling management
Parker Drilling has named Jon-Al Duplantier vice president and general counsel, and Philip Schlom has been named principal accounting officer and corporate controller. Duplantier joins from ConocoPhillips, where he served in several legal and management roles from 1995 to 2009. He received his juris doctor degree from Louisiana State University and a bachelor's degree from Grambling State University. Schlom will have overall responsibility for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting. He joins the company from Shared Technologies where he served as vice president and corporate controller. He graduated from California State University-Dominguez Hills with a bachelor's degree.
Denny joins Scorpion Offshore as VP to succeed retiring George Brumley
George Bruce Brumley, vice president operations at Scorpion Offshore, will retire in the fourth quarter of 2009. He will be succeeded by James Harold Denney. Denney has over 35 years of experience in the contract drilling business, the majority of which was with Nabors Industries Inc. He has served as the operations manager for Nabors in the North Sea, president of Nabors Alaska and recently as chairman of Nabors Well Services Ltd.
JayHawk Energy retains Diamond-Goldberg as president
JayHawk Energy has retained Marshall Diamond-Goldberg as president. Since his election to JayHawk's board of directors in August 2008, Diamond-Goldberg has provided technical guidance to the company. As president, Diamond-Goldberg will oversee the development of JayHawk's North Dakota oil property. He brings 27 years of oil and gas experience to the company.
Burleson Cooke opens Pittsburgh office to serve Marcellus area
Houston energy law firm Burleson Cooke has opened an office in the Pittsburgh area to serve companies with an interest in the Marcellus Shale formation. Initially, the new office will include four attorneys. Kelly Shapiro focuses her practice on matters related to real estate and finance. Denise Starkey has more than 15 years of experience that includes commercial real estate, oil and gas matters, finance and banking, and title insurance. J.C. Wilkinson III has extensive title-related oil and gas experience, including representing landowners on issues related to Marcellus Shale development. Keith Zabela has represented clients in Pennsylvania on matters than include real estate, title insurance, corporate law, contracting, banking, and trademark law.
Energy veteran Kurz joins CCMP Capital
Karl Kurz has joined CCMP Capital, a global private equity firm, as a managing director and a member of the firm's investment committee. Kurz joins Chris Behrens as co-head of CCMP's energy investment efforts in Houston. Kurz spent nine years with Anadarko Petroleum, most recently serving as COO responsible for overseeing the company's global exploration and production, marketing, midstream, land, technology and service businesses. He holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University and he is a graduate of Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.
Beaty named president, Amphora Americas
Houston-based Amphora Inc., a global energy trading and risk management software solutions provider founded in 1997 as TradeCapture Inc., has named John R. Beaty II as president, Amphora Americas. He holds over 14 years of process technology consulting experience in the petroleum industry. Beaty was most recently executive vice president and general manager of Zytax, where he was responsible for the leadership and management of a dedicated line of business for tax automation software. He holds a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University.
Former Texaco executive elected non-executive chair of Hyperdynamics
The board of Hyperdynamics Corp. has elected veteran oilman Robert A. Solberg as its new non-executive chairman, succeeding Kent Watts. Solberg is a retired career senior executive of Texaco Inc., where he served as president of Worldwide E&P Development from 1998 until his retirement in 2002. Solberg holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Dakota. Watts remains a member of the board and a major stockholder in Hyperdynamics. Hyperdynamics holds the largest exploration license in the West African Republic of Guinea covering approximately 31,000 square miles.
Walsh resigns CFO postat Australian Clough
After six years with the Australian-based company, Andrew Walsh has resigned his role as CFO and executive director of engineering and construction company Clough Ltd. Richard Simons and Neil Siford will split the responsibilities for an interim period. Simons will be responsible for finance, treasury, and investor relations and Siford will be responsible for management and statutory accounting.
CEO, CFO to retire from Atwood Oceanics
Atwood Oceanics is losing two top executives to retirement. John R. Irwin, president and CEO and James M. Holland, CFO, senior vice president and secretary, plan to retire from the company with effect from July 31, 2010 and December 31, 2010, respectively. Irwin has served as Atwood's CEO since 1992. Holland has been the company's CFO since 1988. Additionally, the company has elected Jack E. Golden to fill a vacant seat on the board of directors. Golden worked at BP from 1982 until his retirement in 2005. He is currently managing partner of Edgewater Energy Partners and is an advisor to the board of Cobalt International.
Deutsche Bank strengthens energy sales, trading in Calgary
Deutsche Bank has hired four to the commodities business within its Global Markets division in Canada. Raymond Houghton, Mike Kardash, David Lake, and Alan Wright have joined as directors. Houghton, Kardash and Lake joined the bank's US natural gas trading business from Northern Lights Capital Advisors. Wright is responsible for Canadian commodity sales. He joins from TD Securities, where he led the energy sales and origination team. Previously, Wright was with CIBC World Markets in Calgary and New York, and Enron Canada in Calgary.
Middle East's firstprivate-sector gas company names Dewar CFO
Dana Gas PJSC, the Middle East's first and largest private-sector gas company, has appointed James Dewar as group CFO. Dewar brings over 27 years' experience working in global/regional CFO roles with British Petroleum Plc. He holds a bachelor's degree from Strathclyde University in Scotland.
Cheyenne Resources names Robert Bell corporate director
Cheyenne Resources Corp. has appointed Robert A. Bell as a corporate director, as well as the head of the company's executive advisory committee. Bell brings 30 years of engineering and management experience, including roles facilitating the evolution of start-up and /or small independents into larger oil and gas entities.
Deep Down CFO assumes chairman role after Chamberlain resigns
Robert E. Chamberlain Jr. has resigned his position as chairman of the board and chief acquisitions officer at Deep Down. Chamberlain is resigning to pursue other interests, but will continue to serve as a consultant through 2010 when requested by management. Eugene L. Butler, CFO, will assume the role of chairman of the board.
