Endeavour mourns loss of Thomas Clark
Thomas D. Clark, Jr., a member of the board of directors at Endeavour International Corp., died October 9, 2010. Clark had served as a director of the corporation since 2006, most recently as chairman of the company's Nominating and Governance Committee and as a member of the Technology and Reserves Committee. William L. Transier, chairman, CEO, and president of Endeavour, commented, "An educator at heart, Tom was a well known leader in corporate governance matters. We will greatly miss his guidance and support as our director and our friend." Clark was president of Strategy Associates, a consulting firm specializing in strategy development, strategic planning assistance, corporate governance policy and corporate analysis. He was the Edward G. Schlieder Distinguished Chair of Information Science at Louisiana State University and director of the DECIDE Boardroom, an executive decision research and development facility. He served as vice chairman of the Louisiana Tobacco Settlement Corp., and was a member of the board of directors of Dynegy Inc. Clark served on several professional, community, volunteer and service boards, including the United Way and the Istrouma Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He received his Doctorate of Business Administration from The Florida State University, an MBA from Arizona State University, and a bachelor's degree from Mercer University.
There are significant changes on the horizon for Occidental Petroleum Corp. including the pending retirement of the company's CEO, Dr. Ray R. Irani. Irani plans to retire from the company at the end of 2014. He will start by relinquishing the role of CEO to Oxy's current president and COO, Stephen I. Chazen, at the shareholders' meeting in May 2011. He will continue as full-time executive chairman until his retirement. Chazen joined Occidental in 1994 as executive vice president — corporate development. He was named CFO in 1999, elected president and CFO in 2007, and became president and COO in August 2010. He was also elected to the board of directors in 2010. Prior to joining Occidental, Chazen was a managing director in the investment banking group of Merrill Lynch & Co. Dr. Irani joined the company in 1983 as chairman and CEO of Occidental Chemical Corp. He became chairman and CEO of Occidental Petroleum Corp. in 1990. Other personnel changes at the company include those at the board of director level. Howard I. Atkins has been elected to the board, effective immediately. Atkins currently serves as senior executive vice president and CFO of Wells Fargo & Co. John S. Chalsty and Irvin W. Maloney, both of whom have passed the board's retirement age of 75, have expressed their intention not to stand for re-election at the 2011 annual meeting of stockholders.
Sure Energy has promoted Chris Baker to the position of president and COO. He has over 35 years of exploration and operating experience and prior to Sure Energy was VP of exploration at Clear Energy and Vermilion Resources Ltd.
Branko Terzic has been named the executive director of the Deloitte Center for Energy Solutions. Terzic, who has served for more than a decade as the regulatory policy leader in Deloitte's energy & resources industry group, will continue in that role while also taking on his new responsibilities leading the Center for Energy Solutions. Terzic is a former commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), a former Wisconsin public service commissioner and the former chief executive of a natural gas company. The Center for Energy Solutions was launched in 2009 as a forum for discussion, research, and industry collaboration. Terzic will be its first executive director. Annette Proctor will join Terzic in the Center for Energy Solutions, serving as director of operations. Proctor has 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, focused on learning, operations, and marketing across numerous industry subsectors. In her new position, Proctor will be responsible for ensuring that all activities support and augment the strategic priorities.
Aon Corp., a global provider of risk management services and human capital consulting, has named Regis J. Coccia director of marketing and communications. Before joining Aon, Coccia spent nearly 18 years at Business Insurance, a weekly magazine and website serving risk management, insurance, and employee benefit professionals. For the past seven years Coccia has served as editor of the publication. Coccia earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame.
Hunton & Williams LLP has expanded its energy and project finance practice with the addition of Gregory F. Lang and Michael J. Madden as partners in the New York office. The two have a diversified transactional practice focused on project finance, private equity M&A, project development and leasing. They join Hunton & Williams from Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP where they were partners and previously had been members of the projects team of Paul Hastings. Lang focuses his practice on the representation of developers, institutional investors, private equity funds and independent power producers in connection with the development, financing, and acquisition of domestic and international energy and infrastructure projects. Madden's transactional experience includes a variety of complex structures relating to constructing, financing, and acquiring and disposing of power, natural gas and other energy assets.
Hewitt EnnisKnupp, an Aon Hewitt company, announced today it has hired Karen Rode as the leader of its Global Private Equity group. Rode has nearly 20 years' experience in the private equity market and has held a variety of senior positions, including sourcing, underwriting and portfolio management. Prior to joining Hewitt EnnisKnupp, she was the senior managing director of funds at GE Capital. Rode holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's degree from Indiana University.
George J. "Chip" Van Os has joined Raymond James as managing director of the firm's Houston-based Energy Investment Banking Group. Van Os will focus on the E&P sector. Van Os has more than 12 years experience in energy investment banking. Before joining Raymond James, he was executive director of UBS Investment Bank's Global Energy Group in Houston. Van Os holds a bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
Apache Corp. has promoted Janine J. McArdle to the new position of senior vice president - gas monetization. McArdle, who has led Apache's worldwide oil and gas marketing team since its inception in 2002, will be responsible for marketing LNG and partner, government and First Nations relations. She also will lead the development teams for the Apache-operated Kitimat LNG export terminal in northwestern British Columbia. Prior to joining Apache, McArdle served as managing director for Aquila Europe Ltd. and held executive and management positions with Aquila Energy Marketing. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska and an MBA from the University of Houston.
After 18 years as CFO of Chesapeake Energy Corp., Marcus C. Rowland has resigned to join Cisco, TX-based Frac Tech Services LLC as president. After investing nearly $375 million in the company, Chesapeake owns roughly 26% of Frac Tech, a provider of hydraulic fracturing services in the US. Domenic J. Dell'Osso, Chesapeake's current vice president of finance and CFO of Chesapeake Midstream Development LP, has been promoted to senior vice president and CFO of Chesapeake. Dell'Osso earned his bachelor's degree from Boston College and an MBA from the University of Texas. Before joining Chesapeake in 2008, Dell'Osso worked at Jefferies & Co. and Banc of America Securities as an energy investment banker. Rowland continues to serve as a director of Chesapeake Midstream Partners LP.
Calgary-based Pacific Rodera Energy Inc. has named Ted Watchuk vice president, exploration and James (Terry) McCoy to the board of directors. Watchuk has over 30 years' experience as a geologist and exploration manager. He spent 15 years with Poco Petroleums in various roles. McCoy is a senior oil and gas executive with over 40 years of experience. He is currently the president of Koa Resources. Roger Harman, CFO is no longer with the company.
Idaho-based JayHawk Energy Inc. has appointed Kelly Stopher as CFO. Stopher has over 20 years of energy industry experience.
