Anadarko group tests Tarakan basin discovery

A group led by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. is evaluating an appraisal program and plans to shoot more seismic around an oil and gas discovery in Indonesia’s Tarakan basin.

HOUSTON, Nov. 2
– A group led by Anadarko Petroleum Corp. is evaluating an appraisal program and plans to shoot more seismic around an oil and gas discovery in Indonesia’s Tarakan basin on East Kalimantan.

The Badik discovery, drilled to 12,950 ft in 230 ft of water on the Nunukan PSC, encountered 133 net ft of oil and gas pay in high-quality Upper Miocene deltaic sandstones.

Anadarko is block operator with 35% working interest. PT Medco E&P Nunukan has 40%, and BPRL Ventures Indonesia BV and Videocon Indonesia Nunukan Inc. have 12.5% each.
