Eni New Energy has begun construction of a photovoltaic plant with peak installed capacity of 31 Mw at the Porto Torres industrial site in Sardinia.

Another Eni company, Syndial, is providing environmental remediation services in a broader reclamation project in the area.

About 70% of the electricity from the Porto Torres plant will be used by nearby companies.

The work is part of Eni’s Progetto Italia (OGJ Online, May 12, 2016).

Last year in that project, Eni finished construction of a 26-Mw photovoltaic plant at Saline Conti Vecchi in the Assemini industrial area of Cagliari province.
