Murphy Oil Corp., El Dorado, Ark., said a delineation well on its Front Runner South discovery on Green Canyon Block 338 in the Gulf of Mexico found 300 ft TVD of pay, pending further testing. Front Runner South discovery was announced earlier this year (OGJ Online, June 14, 2001).
Pakistan has awarded Scimitar Hydrocarbons Corp., Calgary, an exploration license for the 1,100 sq km Safed Koh Block, at the frontal part of the Sulaiman Fold Belt in Punjab province. The award is subject to a finalized concession agreement, expected by yearend or in early 2002. Scimitar will spend $553,000 (US) during the first 2 years, mostly on geological and geophysical studies, with an option in the third year to drill a new well or reenter the existing discovery well.
A unit of Hunt Oil Co. has signed an exploration and production agreement with Oman for the offshore Block 50 Area. The agreement will be effective upon royal decree. Oman Hunt Oil Co. will begin to explore the 22,245 sq km area soon thereafter.
Brigham Exploration Co., Austin, has begun producing 3.4 MMcfd of gas and 24 b/d of condensate from Dawson No. 1 well, the discovery well for Triple Crown field, Brooks County, Tex.
