HOUSTON, May 9 -- Operators developing fields off Angola have recently awarded two major lump-sum, turnkey contracts for development work for their respective projects.
Kizomba B project
ExxonMobil Corp. unit Esso Exploration Angola (Block 15) Ltd. let Saipem unit Saibos Construções Maritimas Lda. a contract for the Kizomba B project on the Esso-operated deepwater Block 15. The contract entails the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation for the risers and flowline facilities, to be installed in 1,100 m of water. Saibos CML also will install the floating production, storage, and offloading mooring system and subsea manifolds and umbilicals.
The offshore installation phase involves two "substantial" installation campaigns to be carried out by the Saibos FDS field development ship between third quarter of this year and third quarter 2005, Saipem said.
Dalia oil filed development
Separately, a joint venture of Saipem, Technip-Coflexip, and Stolt Offshore SA, along with South Korean engineering firms Samsung Heavy Industries Ltd. and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME), have been awarded a contract by TotalFinaElf E&P Angola SA (now Total E&P Angola SA) for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and integration of the FPSO's topsides for field development of Dalia field.
Earlier this month, Total received approval from Angola's state-owned Sonangol to develop Dalia field, which Total operates, on Angola's deepwater Block 17 (OGJ Online, May 6, 2003).
The project involves the integration of the 22,000-ton topsides on the hull, which is to be supplied by Samsung under a separate contract, Technip-Coflexip reported.
The Saipem JV will engineer, procure, and commission the project, while Samsung and DSME will carry out fabrication and integration.
Dalia is slated for first oil in mid-2006.
