WILLIAMS DEDICATES FOUR CORNERS GAS SYSTEM
Williams Field Services Co., Salt Lake City, has dedicated its Manzanares gas gathering system and Milagro gas treating plant near Bloomfield, N.M., in the Four Corners region.
Both are designed to handle coalbed methane produced in the San Juan basin of Colorado and New Mexico.
The Manzanares system will consist of 120 miles of 6 through 22 in. pipeline and 75,000 hp of compression.
The three train Milagro plant removes carbon dioxide and water from gas. Williams bought the plant from an operator in Clinton, Okla., and moved the unit during 1990 and 1991 to its present site.
It originally was designed with a treating capacity of 390 MMcfd using two trains. However, greater than expected production of coalbed methane required a third train.
When all construction is complete in 1992, treating capacity will reach 500 MMcfd.
Present inlet volume exceeds 100 MMcfd. That is expected to increase to design capacity during the next 12 months as the Manzanares-Milagro project is completed and remaining central delivery sites are tied into gathering lines.
Coal seam gas gathered and treated on the Manzanares system is delivered to the Blanco, N.M., hub for transport to markets by El Paso Natural Gas Co., Gas Co. of New Mexico, and Northwest Pipeline Corp. Other delivery points are planned to connect with Transwestern Pipeline Co.
The connections allow deliveries to California, the Gulf Coast, Midcontinent, and Pacific Northwest.
