ACT TESTS OIL FIND OFF CHINA
ACT Operators Group has another oil strike off China.
Its HZ 32-3-1 wildcat in the South China Sea flowed a combined 12,000 b/d of 3341 gravity oil from three zones at undisclosed depths.
Site is 3 miles east of ACT's recent Huizhou 32-2-1 discovery and 3 miles west of Huizhou 26-1 oil field, which is expected to start production this year. All are on Contract Area 16/08 (see map, OGJ, Jan. 21, p. 18).
Contract Area 16/08 covers about 443,000 acres in Pearl River Mouth basin, about 170 miles southeast of Guangzhou, Canton.
ACT began producing oil from Huizhou 21-1 field, also on Contract Area 16/08, last September. It's evaluating test results of HZ 32-3-1.
ACT members are Agip (Overseas) Ltd., Chevron Overseas Petroleum Ltd., and Texaco Petroleum Mij. (Nederland) BY, each with a 33 1/3% interest. It is working in cooperation with Nanhai East Oil Corp., a unit of China National Offshore Oil Corp.
