ALABAMA TRACTS DRAW BIDS

Mobil Exploration & Producing U.S. Inc. have offered about $4.7 million and Chevron U.S.A. Inc. $432,000 for six Mobile Bay and Mississippi Sound exploration tracts off Alabama. High bid of the sale was $1,426,335 offered by Mobil for Alabama Tract 61, immediately northwest of Mobil's Mary Ann field, the only Jurassic Norphlet deep gas project on stream in Mobile Bay (see map, OGJ, Mar. 6, 1989, p. 15).

High bid of the sale was $1,426,335 offered by Mobil for Alabama Tract 61, immediately northwest of Mobil's Mary Ann field, the only Jurassic Norphlet deep gas project on stream in Mobile Bay (see map, OGJ, Mar. 6, 1989, p. 15).

Mobil also offered $384,405 for Alabama Tract 48, located immediately north of Tract 61, $564,465 for Tract 59, $1,124,795 for Tract 60, and $1,199,249 for Tract 96. There were no other bids.

Chevron, meanwhile, offered $432,000 for Alabama Tract 108.

There were no other offers for the block.

The Alabama Department of Conservation is evaluating the bids.
