VAALCO Energy Inc., Houston, said its Gabon operations, 100% offshore, continue to operate normally.
News comes as military officers in the oil-producing country on the west coast of Africa are said to have seized power and placed President Ali Bongo under house arrest following a declaration by the state’s election body that he had won a third term despite opposition.
VAALCO completed a lifting of about 641,000 bbl of oil from its operated Etame field on Aug. 27, 2023, the company said.
Etame Marin block is in Congo basin about 32 km off the coast of Gabon. The license area is spread over five fields covering a total area of about 187 sq km.
