Beacon Offshore lets production services contract for Shenandoah FPS

The Shenandoah FPS is in the final stages of hook-up and is expected to begin producing oil later this summer.

Beacon Offshore Energy LLC has let a contract to Danos Operations Services to provide production services for for the Shenandoah floating production system (FPS) in the Gulf of Mexico.

The project, Danos said in a release, will employ production operators, instrumentation and electrical technicians, mechanics, and offshore installation managers.

The Shenandoah FPS is in the final stages of hook-up and is expected to begin producing oil later this summer, the service provider continued. The 25,000 metric tonne FPS, which sailed away from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea, in December 2024, has a nameplate capacity of 120,000 bo/d.

Earlier this year, Beacon noted completion of mooring pile installation, noting infield pipelay activities were to be performed in this year's first quarter. The 102-mile, 18-in. OD SYNC oil export pipeline installation and associated upgrades to the CHOPS GB 72 platform have been completed.

Rig operations worked to complete the second of four Phase 1 producing wells, with rig flowback operations also to be conducted in this year's first quarter, followed by completion operations on the final two Phase 1 producing wells, according to the Beacon Offshore website.

Shenandoah lies 160 miles off the coast of Louisiana in Walker Ridge Blocks 51, 52, and 53 is about 230 miles from New Orleans. The project covers the tie-back of four subsea wells to the Shenandoah host infrastructure through a subsea manifold with dual flowlines and risers (OGJ Online, Jan. 13, 2023).
