Equinor Energy AS has let a contract to Ocean Installer AS for stage two development of the Troll Phase 3 project in the North Sea.
The engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract for Ocean Installer covers fabrication and installation of four large pipeline termination structures for a 36-in. gas flowline, five 20-in. spools, subsea pig launcher and receiver (PLR), 6 km of 4.5-in. MEG line and protection covers. The work also covers installation of the subsea production system and umbilicals (SURF) from OneSubsea. Trenching and pre-commissioning is also part of the scope of work.
The contract is worth over 1 billion NOK and includes a substantial fabrication scope and offshore work over 3 years, with the first campaign beginning in 2025. Ocean Installer has also secured a separate contract for replacing a 4 km 10-in. flexible flowline at Troll B field in 2025.
Engineering work has begun at Ocean Installer’s offices in Stavanger and Oslo.
Phase 3 development will enable gas production from Troll West field via subsea tiebacks to the original Troll A platform, 80 km northwest of Bergen, Norway (OGJ Online, June 13, 2024).
Stage 2 of the Troll Phase 3 project includes eight new wells from two new templates with subsea controls extended from existing templates. The 36-in. gas flowline will be laid for the tie-back to Troll A, and the project will also perform modification work on Troll A.
