Equinor enters collaboration for Wisting, Bay du Nord early works

Equinor signed a collaboration agreement with Subsea 7 SA and Subsea Integration Alliance for collaboration on early, joint concept studies for two projects.

Equinor Energy AS signed a collaboration agreement with Subsea 7 SA and Subsea Integration Alliance (comprised of Subsea7 and OneSubsea) for exclusive collaboration to begin immediately on early, joint concept studies for two projects: Wisting field offshore Norway, and Bay du Nord, off Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

Under the agreement, any resulting EPCI scopes would be directly awarded to the alliance if a final investment decision is made.

Equinor is continuing its analysis of the Wisting discovery (operator, 35%). In April, the operator completed appraisal well (7324/7-4) to acquire data on the reservoir and cap rock for use in ongoing evaluation and development of the discovery (OGJ Online, Apr. 22, 2024).

Offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Equinor is gearing up to drill the proposed Bay du Nord oil project. The company let a contract for the Hercules semisubmersible drilling rig late in 2023 and expects to begin drilling in second-quarter 2024.
